Just very liquidy, I simmered it to reduce the sauce. Could also thicken it with something too.Melindahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17329997752606696894noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4486354752468337074.post-19466887926798107052009-11-11T01:51:15.071-08:002009-11-11T01:51:15.071-08:00Hey, Ali, I'm really enjoying your blog. I am ...Hey, Ali, I'm really enjoying your blog. I am particularly interested in the tomato stuff because our neighbour grows them every year (commercially, for the supermarket, 70,000 pallet sized boxes!) and we, of course, can help ourselves LOL! Haven't gotten into it in a big way yet, but when I did make a big batch of bolognese from vine-ripened tomatoes...I started adding sugar as per the recipe, and wished I hadn't, they were so sweet already LOL! Anyway, thanks for the post. If you were closer, you could come for a weekend and help yourself too ;) There is always an obscene amount of fruit left on the plants, which just get ploughed back into the soil :(Nikkihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00499505297586304471noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4486354752468337074.post-55593486834314191412009-11-11T01:09:32.517-08:002009-11-11T01:09:32.517-08:00Hi Ali :) Just thought I'd let you know that t...Hi Ali :) Just thought I'd let you know that thickeners and starches, according to the new food labelling laws, are by default from non-allergenic sources unless labelled otherwise. If they contain wheat, gluten, dairy, corn, soy, nuts, seafood etc, they must state it on the label - no more having to know the numbers! If it says 'starch', it's gluten free, whereas it used to be the other way around. Not suggesting you buy baked beans, I have been trying to get around to making my own for ages because they'll be superior, but for emergencies and for other products, it helps to know the current 'rules'. Nikki :)Nikkihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00499505297586304471noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4486354752468337074.post-3646374086807282392009-08-07T21:00:38.366-07:002009-08-07T21:00:38.366-07:00I'm new at preserving, but just pickled my ve...I'm new at preserving, but just pickled my very first olives.
